My life on this planet began November 16th, 1950 in the town of Hjørring in the Northern part of Denmark. Among my ancestors are Danish farmers, innkeepers, Vikings and a Spanish soldier who came up with the army of Napoleon to conquer Europe. Instead he fell in love with a Danish farmer’s daughter and settled down – as far as I know peacefully. My mother bought her first computer at 81 to keep in touch with me wherever I go. A great gift! My father’s life was short and intense – he died when I was 9 and my brother 6. I was born in the sign of the Scorpio and right now I am shedding my skin like a snake. A life transition is knocking at my door, sending me out to explore new territories and landscapes, in the inner as well as in the outer world.
With my American man Ross LewAllen I live in three different places. In Copenhagen I overlook the beautiful water-surrounded capital of Denmark from my fifth floor apartment. In New Mexico, USA, I watch the sun rising and setting over the Rocky Mountains from Ross’ hogan South-East of Santa Fe, also called ‘the city different’. And on board Ross’ sailboat “Friendship” in San Diego, California, I feel the power of the Pacific and learn how to sail while I try to keep my balance and not get seasick.
I got my first violin when I was 8 and set out to be a classical violinist. At some point I found out that I needed more words and language in my life. I started playing the electric violin in a rock band while I studied literature and German at the university of Copenhagen. At the university I did get a lot of words, but I was losing myself in the world of abstractions. So while I studied I also began working as a journalist, writer and translator. After taking my degrees I furthermore did editing and counseling work for Danish publishing firms and I started working as a radio journalist at DR, the national public radio in Denmark. The radio gathered the two main tracks of my life in one happy soundtrack of music and words. Radio is spoken word, music and sound working together in the dimension of time. Doing radio opened a whole new world to me and I knew I had to follow that path. Today I work for the Cultural Department of DR. My main field is culture, especially literature.
One of my dreams for the future is to develop a transatlantic journalism including stories from my own experiences with both sides of the Atlantic. The old Vikings went by boat – I go by planes and Internet to build bridges with words.
Sound is universal and the art of healing with sound is ancient. I have started studying sound healing to learn more about the meeting places between sound, spirit and the hidden traditions of wisdom.
